Minutes of the General Meeting held

at 7.30pm on Thursday 6th September 2007  

at the Rotherham Cricket Club, Clifton Lane, Rotherham.

 

1.     PRESENT

Chairman Stephen Blincow welcomed 22 members to the first General Meeting of the new season.

 

2.     APOLOGIES

There were apologies from 11 members.

 

3.     MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY 5 APRIL 2007

The minutes were accepted as a true and accurate record of the meeting.

 

3a.  MATTERS ARISING

There were no matters arising.

 

4.     PROBLEM CORNER

All problems would be discussed in the training with Phil Clough later in the evening.

 

 5.    CORRESPONDENCE

There was no correspondence as Secretary had dealt with all matters prior to his holiday.

 

6.     ROTHERHAM & DISTRICT SUNDAY LEAGUE  REPORT

All meetings were for the clubs in respect of the new season and there was nothing relevant to referees. Dean Flanaghan pointed out several clubs had indicated there home playing strip to be black and this was against League rules. Mark Chapman to write to the League for their observations as referee’s have been instructed by the FA they should were black at all times.



 

7.     ROTHERHAM & DISTRICT FA REPORT

No report.

 

 

8.     TREASURERS REPORT

Mick Bell reported there was £1322 in the current account and £800 in the Building Society. With a little cash in hand and stock value the Society has around £2217.00 in total. The presentation night showed a profit of £186 with a few more pounds still to come in. Mick then gave a chat on his thoughts of the evening and it was agreed that the event was again a success.

 

9.      FOOTBALL TEAM REPORT

No report.

 

10.    OBSERVER TO COMMITTEE MEETING

Chairman Steve Blincow again reminded members of the offer of attending a committee meeting as an observer.

 

11.    GUEST SPEAKER REPORT

Mark Chapman informed members that a member of S&H disciplinary meeting will attend a meeting to speak about hearings. A mock hearing will be carried out to give members an idea of what goes on at the meetings. Alan Wiley and Ray Olivier have confirmed they will attend subject to refereeing appointments. It was at this point a discussion took place regarding Graham Poll speaking to Barnsley RA in November on an evening that clashed with the Rotherham RA meeting. It was agreed unanimously to put back the Rotherham meeting one week to allow members to attend the Barnsley meeting. 18 members indicated they would like to attend.

 

12.    SOCIAL EVENTS

The Barnsley RA meeting in November is to be used as a social get together with mini buses being arranged to take members to the venue. Mark Chapman informed members if they had any suggestions for the social committee to let him know.

 

13.    DATE OF NEXT MEETING

The date of the next meeting will be Thursday 4th October 2007. 7.30pm

 

14.    ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Dean Flanagan spoke about his concerns at the state of the S&H handbook. He thought the book has a nasty odour to it, and felt this was due to contamination by flooding. Mark Chapman to write to S&H regarding this.

Mark Carratt informed the meeting has was aware that Reresby Arms Athletic player Andrew Mounsey has assaulted a non qualified referee (Kevin Eades) in a friendly against Parkgate at Green Lane. The referee is not reporting the incident but there were concerns from the floor that this player could do this to a registered referee if he is allowed to continue playing. Mark Chapman to write to S&H with a copy to Rotherham Sunday League regarding the matter.

Adrian Holyhead spoke to the meeting explaining there are only around 22 referee’s to cover 112 teams in the Rotherham Sunday League. It was widely thought the CRB/Child protection issue were mainly to blame for this. It was noted this is a national problem and not just locally.

Phil Clough held a training session on Law amendments and answered any other questions.

The meeting closed at 9.20pm.
